You have come all the way to Jökulsárlón ice lagoon in South-east Iceland and what now? You, of course, take a boat ride with us!

It is great to stand on the banks of the lagoon and look onwards to the deepest lake in Iceland. But to get the whole experience, we highly recommend you take a boat ride.

The Best Way to Explore!

There are three different boat tours you can choose from.

Our Adventure Tour, also called the Zodiac Tour, is our most popular one. This tour is 1-hour long and you will be able to get closer to the icebergs and Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull. This tour is only suitable for people over 6-years of age.

If you want more privacy, we also offer a Private Tour. You can come alone or with a group, for more intimacy. The tour is also customisable to your wishes. This tour is at least 1-hour long.

Our third tour is the Photographer Tour. As the name suggests, the tour is tailored to small photographer groups and others wanting great photo-ops. This tour is at least 1-hour long but can be longer.

Safety is, of course, very important to us. So, we might not get as close to the icebergs or glacier every time, but it is still something you should not skip if you have the chance.

What is Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon?

The lagoon began forming about 90 years ago, when Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet glacier from Vatnajökull, started receding. The lagoon is about 250 metres (820 feet) deep and hovers around 0° C (32° F).

The lagoon changes to the Jökulsá við Breiðamerkurjökul glacial river when it reaches the beach. The beach is the beautiful Diamond Beach, filled with icebergs which have washed back to shore.

Please note that our tours are not available all year long. The Adventure Tour is available between 1 May and 13 December, and The Private Tour and Photographer Tour are available 1 May and 15 October.
